The Disturbia and I Am Number Four director told DS that he will be working on the script soon and called the game one of the greatest "of all time".
"Dead Space is a script that we're going to get back to and look [at], and we're coming at it from a prequel perspective," he said.
"It's one of the greatest games of all time, it's the scariest game I've ever played in my life, and I want to be to able see if we can capture that element into a film."
Caruso was named as the project's director in mid 2009.
