'Castle Crashers' reaches 2m players

Castle Crashers
The Behemoth's acclaimed Castle Crashers game has reached the milestone of 2 million players on Xbox Live Arcade.

Launched in August 2008 as part of the first Xbox Live Summer of Arcade, the 2D adventure game has consistently ranked among the platform's top selling titles.

Castle Crashers, which won XBLA 'Game Of The Year' in 2008, achieved the feat of 2m players on Christmas Day, based on unique gamertags and the leaderboards.

"It is incredibly humbling to look at the leaderboards and see that crazy number," said Kelly Revak, from The Behemoth.

"Initially releasing the game we hoped a few hundred thousand people would play it. We never dared to think of one million players, let alone two million.

"We are so grateful to all the players for supporting us. We're going to do something pretty exciting to thank everyone. Let's just say there's an Xbox made of gold involved."

The Behemoth is currently working on its next XBLA game, currently under the title BattleBlock Theater.
