Sledgehammer Games will be working closely with the team to develop the game's single-player campaign, according to The LA Times.
Raven Software, who have contributed map packs in previous games in the series, will be producing the game's online component.
The studios' involvement is to ensure that the game meets its targeted November 2011 release date following the departure of Infinity Ward's co-founders and around 50 staff members last year.
Activision has yet to announce the next game in the Call Of Duty series.
