Speaking to the BBC, Visceral Games' Ian Milham revealed that a "lot of discussion" had taken place surrounding the project.
He continued: "One of the reasons Dead Space still exists and is popular is because we've made sure to do everything right. So we're doing the same with the film - [it won't be] just a cheap cash-in."
Dead Space 2 is out now in North America and Europe on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
