Video Game BAFTA host Dara O'Briain has revealed that he is baffled by Rockstar's decision to pull Red Dead Redemption from this year's competition.

It has been speculated that Rockstar pulled the title after Grand Theft Auto IV lost out to Super Mario Galaxy in the 2008 'Best Game' award.

In an exclusive interview with DS ahead of next month's award show, Dara O'Briain said that he has "no idea" why Rockstar has taken the decision, but admitted to being "surprised" at the 2008 result.

The Mock The Week host went on to say that there would always be disagreements when picking a winner, and hinted that he might make a joke or two at Rockstar's expense on the night.

"[But] there is always going to be an element of disagreement as you are absolutely comparing apples and oranges. FIFA 11 versus Mass Effect 2 - how do you compare those two games? What are the criteria?

"Ultimately, it should just be whatever blew people away the most over the year," he added.

The Irish comic and avid gamer also heaped praised upon Playdead Studios' Xbox Live Arcade title LIMBO, highlighting its "beautiful look and feel" and "suitably vague" storytelling.

The Video Game BAFTAs will take place at the London Hilton on Park Lane on March 16.
