HD versions of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica have been confirmed for the West.

Revealed yesterday as a retail compilation for Japan, Capcom will release the games as individual downloadable titles on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network later this year.

As well as upscaled, high-definition visuals, each title will have Achievements and Trophies for their respective systems.

Released on Dreamcast in 2000, Resident Evil: Code Veronica saw Claire Redfield captured by the Umbrella Corporation and taken to Rockfort Island.

Meanwhile, Resident Evil 4 saw the series depart from its traditional survival-horror roots for more action-oriented gameplay, and has been released on GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Wii since its debut in 2000.

The last game in the series, Resident Evil 5, was released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in early 2009.
