Sources have told PSM3 (via CVG) that Activision will announce the project, thought to be Modern Warfare 3, in mid-April.
It was added that the game will continue on from the ending of 2009's Modern Warfare 2.
A teaser website had suggested that the title was to be announced in late February, but this was subsequently denied by Activision.
It has been rumoured that Modern Warfare 3 will be a prequel co-developed by Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software.
The last Call Of Duty title, Black Ops, was released in November.
