Separate sources have told CVG and IGN that the system's controller will not be like the Wii, and will feature a screen with a high definition display and touch input.
"Nintendo's plans sound unreal," said one source. "Publishers are already planning launch titles and it's all very exciting.
"The hardware is even more powerful than current HD consoles and backwards compatible with Wii. The controller will be all-new and has a HD screen on it."
It has also been reported that the device will use the Blu-ray format, although it is uncertain whether it will play movies or use it as a data format, according to Blu-ray.com.
Yesterday, multiple sources revealed that Nintendo is going to reveal its next home console at E3 in June, with a release planned for late 2012.
