When questioned by Edge regarding which games he would like to see remade on the 3DS, Miyamoto teased that he wants to revisit his own SNES classic.
"Do you remember Xevious? It's two-layered and I really wanted to create that at the time," he explained. "So to see Link to the Past in two layers would be quite attractive for me."
Nintendo has previously confirmed that classic game remakes will appear in the 3DS eShop, with titles including Mega Man II and Xevious shown at last year's E3 with 3D depth effects. With third party support already on board with 3DS classic remakes, an enhanced port of Link to the Past is not out of the question.
An enhanced port of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is already scheduled to be available from June 17 in Europe and June 19 in North America. It will include a new Boss Challenge mode and Master Quest.
Nintendo's 3DS eShop is expected to arrive via a system update in May.
