The attack was unrelated to the ongoing period of PSN downtime affecting PS3 and PSP users.
SOE has said that it is continuing to "work around the clock" on improving its security and restoring access to games, which will take "at least a few more days".
"We are currently in the process of an extensive upgrade to our network to further protect your information from future attacks," it said in a statement.
"We thank you for your patience as we continue to work around the clock to restore our game services. We know this has been a frustrating time for you and appreciate your understanding as we work to confirm the security of our network."
It also revealed a number of giveaways for affected users. All players will receive a further 30 days of game time added to the end of their current billing cycle, in addition to the time the service has been offline.
Specific games will also provide bonuses. DC Universe Online users will be given Batman and Two-Face inspired masks, while Everquest players will receive a Double XP event and festivals.
SOE will also supply US-based account holders with identity protection, with similar services planned for users in other regions.
In April, the firm closed several of its studios and cancelled long-awaited MMO The Agency.
