The event will begin today at 6pm BST / 10am PST and concludes on Tuesday, May 24 at the same time. It will also feature a dedicated playlist for the Nuketown map.
Community manager Josh Olin said that the event is intended to "make up" for a recent double XP weekend missed by PS3 owners due to PSN downtime.
He added that all platforms will receive another double XP weekend when the Escalation map pack is released on PlayStation 3. No release date for the DLC has yet been announced.
Released last week on Xbox 360, the new map pack adds four new multiplayer maps and a new Zombies arena, starring horror icons Sarah Michelle Gellar and George Romero.
Several PlayStation Network services, including online play, were restored for regions across the globe earlier this week.
