The Tom Clancy series is to return to its roots, focusing on more tactical and stealth-based gameplay, according to Kotaku.
Set in New York City, the new Rainbow Six will see home-grown terrorists target bankers on Wall Street as well as the government.
The first-person perspective with a third-person cover system will return, and it's hinted that players must choose their own weapons, equipment and strategies before every mission.
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, the last entry in the series, was released in 2008.
Sister series Ghost Recon will receive a Kinect-enabled entry in 2012 as well as a free-to-play online version this summer.
Ubisoft's E3 2011 press conference will take place at 10.30pm BST on Monday, June 6.
