Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels Of The Starry Skies
Dragon Quest X could be released on Wii U, Square Enix has suggested.

Currently in development on the Wii, the latest iteration in the long-running role-playing series could also be released on Nintendo's next console, according to Andriasang.

Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada told investors that it is undergoing "technical investigations" on how to support Wii U with the game, after an investor said that the Wii was past its prime.

Announced in 2008, Dragon Quest X will be the first Dragon Quest game on a Nintendo home console since 1995's Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie for the SNES.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies was released on Nintendo DS last summer in Europe.

The Dragon Quest series has sold over 43 million copies to date worldwide.
