The high-definition remake of the arcade platformer will be released in October or November on PC download service Steam, developer Golgoth Studio has told Digital Spy.
A demo will be released in September to fans and members of the press, providing feedback for the development team before Toki's full release.
"[I] hope everybody, especially gamers who know the original version, will have a good feeling after playing, [we're] reworking a lot of things," said business developer director Antony De Sa Ferreria.
Elsewhere, the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network versions are to be available in early 2012.
Originally scheduled for 2010, Toki was signed by publisher Ignition Entertainment and pushed back until April 2011.
The original Toki saw a tribesman transformed into a spitting ape by a witch doctor. It was released in arcades in 1989 and was later ported to the NES, Mega Drive and Amiga.
Golgoth Studio are also working on a high-definition remake of Joe & Mac.
