The side-scrolling platformer sees players recruit and upgrade 19 different marines and explore iconic environments such as the Sulaco, the Derelict ship and LV-246.
"In contrast to our other Aliens title in the works at the moment, Aliens: Infestation delivers a game that focuses more on exploration of the expanded universe," said Sega's senior vice president of marketing, Gary Knight.
"WayForward really put all their passion into making Aliens: Infestation the definitive Aliens experience that you can fit in your pocket."
WayForward has previously released critically-acclaimed DSiWare titles Mighty Flip Champs and Shantae: Risky's Revenge.
Aliens: Infestation is developed in collaboration with Gearbox Studios, who will release Aliens: Colonial Marines for consoles in 2012.
Sega released Aliens Vs Predator for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC early last year.
