Concept artist Iain McCaig, who has previously worked on designs for films in the Star Wars and Harry Potter franchises, revealed the title won't see release for another four years.
"I'm having the most fun working with Respawn Entertainment right now, and I hate that I can't show you guys what I'm doing there until 2015," he told attendees at the Develop conference in Brighton.
McCaig added that working with Respawn was "the most exhilarating experience I've ever had in my career".
Respawn Entertainment launched its website last month and teased its first game with a blurred screenshot, which is thought to be a space-based first-person shooter.
Respawn was formed in April 2010 by Jason West and Vince Zampella, after they were removed from Infinity Ward by Activision for alleged "insubordination".
The two parties have since been locked in a legal battle, which now involves publisher Electronic Arts, who is being sued by Activision for $400 million.
