The latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine UK has said that a new entry in the first-person shooter franchise will be revealed "soon", according to Connected Consoles.
"Gun-wielding monkeys are finally making a comeback! A fourth TimeSplitters 4 title is to be announced soon," it read.
TimeSplitters 4 was rumoured to be in development earlier this year alongside a new Xbox console.
The new TimeSplitters title would feature sandbox levels, branching pathways and runs on CryEngine 3.
It would be created by series developer Crytek UK, previously known as Free Radical Design before it closed in 2008 and was bought by German publisher Crytek.
TimeSplitters began as a launch title for PlayStation 2 in 2000 and was noted for its time-travelling story, local multiplayer and cartoon visuals.
