The return of Nippon Ichi's tactical role-playing game was confirmed by Japanese video game magazine Dengeki PlayStation, according to Andriasang.
The new Disgaea 3 will feature close-up character pictures - similar to those found in Disgaea 4 - four new scenarios, two new characters and all of the DLC from the PS3 original.
The remake, entitled Disgaea 3 Returns, is expected to be released during the Vita launch period, although a Western release is yet to be confirmed.
Disgaea 3 first appeared on the PS3 in 2008. The original PS2 entries were ported to the PSP, while a remake of the first game also appeared on the Nintendo DS.
The fourth game in the Disgaea series was released in Japan in February and is due to be released in the UK and North America later this year.
