The Darkness developer Starbreeze revealed on Twitter that Project Redlime, EA's codename for the title, is to be unveiled soon.
"Grand moment approaching. The reveal for Starbreeze and EA's Project Redlime. Time to meet the press," said game designer Rickard Johansson.
The message was subsequently removed, suggesting that an announcement is imminent, according to PlaySyndicate.de (via VG247).
Syndicate was originally confirmed to be in development by Starbreeze and Electronic Arts in 2009, but little has been disclosed about the project since then.
Developed by Bullfrog in 1993, Syndicate was an isometric real-time tactical game set in a cyberpunk future.
The Syndicate reboot has been suggested to be a first-person shooter with multiplayer elements.
Starbreeze Studios is known for The Darkness and Chronicles Of Riddick: Assault On Dark Athena.
