Siliconera reports that the new title is the widely rumoured Dragon Quest X for Nintendo Wii, though the studio has not confirmed this.
Square will lift the lid on the project via its Ustream channel on September 5, from 2:00pm in the local Japanese time zone.
Dragon Quest X was first announced in 2008. It will be the first entry in the series to appear on a Nintendo home console since 1995's Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie for the SNES.
Square CEO Yoichi Wada previously revealed that Dragon Quest X could also be released for Nintendo's upcoming Wii U console.
The Dragon Quest Anniversary Collection, slated for September 15, will include a trailer for the game.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies was released on Nintendo DS last summer in Europe.
