The addition of multiplayer was revealed by series creator Hideo Kojima, who posted pictures of the new game mode online, according to Eurogamer.
Kojima also revealed that during loading sequences character dialogue would appear at random.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be released as part of November's Metal Gear Solid Collection, which also includes MGS3: Subsistence, MGS2, MG1 and MG2.
The Xbox 360 and PS3 remake of last year's PSP title will run at 60FPS, while PS3 users will be able to transfer game files to their PSP.
