The horror adventure sequel will see Isaac crash-land on a frozen planet named Tau Volantis, where he travels through blizzard-like conditions, reports Siliconera.
Early on in the game, Isaac makes his way to a seemingly abandoned station to shelter from the storm to discover an injured survivor.
He tells Isaac that there are others located at another facility, including Ellie, a character from Dead Space 2.
Elsewhere, a new group of enemies called 'the hive mind' will appear in the frozen landscape.
The Electronic Arts source is said to be the same one that leaked early details of the Syndicate reboot.
Dead Space 3 was first mentioned earlier this year by CEO John Riccitiello, while a logo for the game appeared on Israeli television last week.
Dead Space 2 was released earlier this year on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
