'Horde Command Pack' will focus on the Horde mode, adding three new maps and additional fortification upgrades, characters, weapon skins and Achievements from November 1 for 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80).
Maps include the hospital-based Blood Drive, a decommissioned battleship in Rustlung and island resort Azura.
Fortification upgrades will see Command Centers add the ability to call in fire support in the form of snipers, mortars and several Hammers of Dawn.
Elsewhere, Decoys, Sentrys and the Silverback will all be upgraded, adding more firepower and defensive options.
Finally, characters Onxy Guard, Big Rig Dizzy and Bernie will be playable, while new weapon skins Team Plasma and Jungle Camo wil be added.
All content will also be playable in Beast mode as well as privately-hosted Versus matches.
Epic Games boss Mike Capps said that Gears of War 3 is not a finished project, with more content to come with four map packs.
New campaign content will also be available after release, although it will not feature series protagonists Marcus, Dom or Cole.
Gears of War 3 is available exclusively on Xbox 360.
