A French press release for upcoming book Halo: Cryptum said that Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks would be involved in the project.
"A film adaptation is set in 2012 . It will be conducted jointly by two heavyweights of American cinema - Steven Spielberg and studio Dreamworks," read a translation of the release by Halo.fr.
Dreamworks has been previously linked to a Halo movie, with the studio hoping to adapt one of the spinoff books for the big screen.
Similarly, Spielberg was said to be in negotiations with a Stuart Beattie-helmed script in 2009.
Last year Microsoft said that it still wants a Halo movie to be made, and was said to be exploring various avenues for release.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will be released exclusively on Xbox 360 on November 15 worldwide.
