Original outing Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards will be given a high definition makeover for Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, PC, OnLive, Android and iOS, according to EGM.
The remake will feature remastered visuals, sound and controls, but will remain faithful to the original's humour and puzzle design.
Series creator Al Lowe is working alongside developer Replay Games with the aim of recreating the full seven-game series if the first remake is successful.
"I'm overjoyed to see Larry released from his digital dungeon after all this time, and be placed in the hands of someone who understands him and wants to see him brought back to the forefront by people who love him and understand him," Lowe said.
Debuting in 1987, the Leisure Suit Larry games are a series of graphical adventures which see Larry unsuccessfully attempt to seduce women.
In 2009, Codemasters announced an eighth game in the series without consulting Lowe on the project.
Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards will be available next year.
