Assassin's Creed character Ezio is rumoured to appear in upcoming fighting game Soul Calibur V.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze was reportedly spotted in an image captured at a Namco Bandai live event, reports CVG.

The image has since been removed from the PS3 Blog, but appeared to show the Assassin's Creed hero during the character select screen.

The Soul Calibur series has traditionally featured characters from other franchises.

Soul Calibur IV contained Yoda and Darth Vader from Star Wars, while Soul Calibur II featured The Legend Of Zelda protagonist Link, Tekken's Heihachi Mishima and comic book creation Spawn.

Soul Calibur V will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next year.
