The studio's vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines hit out at reports to the contrary in a Twitter post, calling the rumours "complete b*llocks".
"No title under development at id has been postponed - indefinitely or otherwise," he added in a later Tweet.
Kotaku previously reported that Doom 4 had been placed on hold, citing an anonymous source close to Bethesda who claimed that the decision was made at a "company-wide" meeting in Dallas.
Doom 4 was first announced in 2008, though there have been few developments since. The report suggested that "the issues and reviews" of RAGE may have caused Bethesda and parent company ZeniMax Media to lose confidence in developer id Software.
RAGE was released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 30 earlier this month. The PC edition suffered from GPU driver issues at launch and did not receive the expected critical acclaim.
