World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria will add a new pet battle system.

In the recently-announced expansion, pets can be further customised with new names, items and abilities. Players can engage in turn-based battles using three pets at a time.

The pet battle system has drawn many comparisons to Nintendo's Pokemon series. In addition to the turn-based battle similarities, wild pets can be found and caught in the expansion.

Blizzard also revealed that Master Trainer characters will be spread throughout Azeroth, and can be battled to obtain new abilities.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is the next expansion to the popular massively multiplayer game.

The expansion adds a new continent to explore as well as the new Pandaren race and monk class.
