'Battlefield 3' discounted to £2.99 on launch day

Battlefield 3 has seen a number of discount offers on launch day.

HMV will lower the price of the first-person shooter to £2.99 with a trade-in of Batman: Arkham City or Forza Motorsport, according to Eurogamer.

GAME has a similar offer, charging £4.99 for the game with a trade-in of Batman: Arkham City, Gears of War 3, Forza Motorsport 4 or PES 2012.

The cheapest online price is from Asda Direct, which is charging £30.57 when using discount code KB6B-OOXF-ALBI-UYDF for the standard edition.

For the Limited Edition, which includes the Back to Karkand expansion pack, Zavvi charges £37.85 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and £29.85 on PC.

On the high street, HMV and most other outlets will charge £39.99 for the Limited Edition version of the game.

Battlefield 3 launched today (October 28) through midnight events at GAME and GameStation stores nationwide.

The game features a large day-one patch, while the extent of Xbox 360's texture pack install was recently unveiled through a video.

Battlefield 3 is now available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
