Dead Rising 3 will feature a new lead character and fictional California setting, a new report has suggested.

According to Siliconera, Dead Rising 3 will star Rick, an orphaned auto-mechanic who must fix a plane before a bomb is detonated and destroys the quarantined city of Los Perdidos.

Illegal immigration is said to be a running theme in the game, with supporting character Red leading an underground group of infected "illegals".

Other characters include Red's girlfriend Annie - who is sympathetic to the infected - Marian Mallon and a new antagonist named General Hemlock, who has kidnapped an important leader.

One of the game's psychopaths will be a biker who drives a motorbike with a steam roller attached to the front.

The latest details arrive the day after Capcom hinted at a new sequel on its Facebook page.

A post on Capcom's home page suggested that the new game would see the return of Frank West and be set in a tropical location.
