According to Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media, the epic role-playing game outsold all other PC games by a factor of over three to one in North America during its first month on sale.
It has also shipped ten million units worldwide for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC since its November 11 release, representing approximately $650 million in retail sales.
Valve's Jason Holtman expressed his delight at Bethesda's decision to choose Steamworks as a platform to support Skyrim both at retail and digitally.
"Bethesda's commitment to and understanding of the PC as a gaming platform shows in the great review scores, spectacular launch and continued high player numbers that Skyrim has received," he added.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim sold 3.5 million copies within 48 hours of sale last month.
