Pokémon Plus Nobunaga's Ambition has been unveiled by Nintendo and Tecmo Koei.

The game, described as a "historical simulator", will be set in feudal Japan and tie in with Koei's long-running Nobunaga's Ambition series, reports Famitsu.

Nobunaga's Ambition is a line of strategy RPGs that debuted on home computers in 1983. It has since appeared on a range of platforms, including the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Koei has previously teamed up with other developers to release crossover projects such as Gundam Musou and One Piece Kaizoku Musou.

Nintendo lifted the lid on the project at this weekend's Jump Festa in Japan. The gaming giant is expected to announce another Pokémon game next month.

Pokémon Plus Nobunaga's Ambition will be released for Nintendo DS in Japan next spring.
