2011 has been one of the best for gaming in years. While it's yet another one dominated by sequels and reboots, the quality continues to climb and climb, enough so that we had to double our usual end-of-year rundown to a total of 20 games.

20. Battlefield 3 - EA's attempt to take on the juggernaut that is Call of Duty has resulted in one of this year's finest shooters. While its campaign is somewhat of a flawed endeavour, it fails to dampen what is a terrific multiplayer offering, with maps that offer huge expanses to explore with jets and tanks.
