Xbox Live to remove 'gun-like' avatar items

Epic Games community manager Will Kinsler revealed on the company's forums that the Lancer and Hammerburst avatar items will no longer be available as of January 1, 2012.
He states that this is due to a new Microsoft policy not to distribute "gun-like" avatar items.
Users who purchase the items prior to January 1 will be allowed to keep them, although the items will not be sold after that date.
The Lancer and Hammerburst items, from Epic Games' Gears of War 3 are the only confirmed items to be affected by the new policy, and appear to be the only avatar items available that resemble guns.
