In an interview with Zoom.in, Miyamoto confirmed that the unannounced title is in development, but provided few details for what to expect.
"People have come to expect a lot from me," he said. "This certainly makes me feel some pressure.
"But if you ask me, 'Is it too much pressure to try to come out with something new?' I have to say no. I'm enjoying myself. When I make something I always try to do my best."
Miyamoto did provide one hint for what shouldn't be expected, stating that he prefers not to make realistic games.
"Each designer has his or her own field which he or she is particularly good at. I'm not saying that I am bad at making the very photo-realistic video games. But when it comes to the realistic games you have to create something familiar," he admitted. "I personally want to make something really different."
Late last year Miyamoto caused confusion when he stated he would retire, which Nintendo quickly refuted. In actuality, Miyamoto was expressing his desire to work on smaller, original games that did not require multiple year development cycles.
Miyamoto did not specify a system or release window for the newly confirmed title.
