'Fez', 'Frozen Synapse' named Independent Games Festival finalists

The Independent Games Festival finalists for 2012 have been announced.
Experimental first-person adventure Dear Esther is up for the most awards, with four nominations in 'Excellence In Visual Art', 'Excellence In Audio', the 'Nuovo Award' and the 'Seumas McNally Grand Prize'.


Fellow 'Grand Prize' nominees Fez, Frozen Synapse, Hohann Sebastian Joust and Spelunky have also earned a total of two nominations.
Elsewhere, Amanita Design's Botanicula is nominated for 'Excellence In Visual Art' and 'Excellence In Audio', while mobile game finalists include ASYNC Corp, Beat Sneak Bandit and Ridiculous Fishing.
Last year's IGF winner was Minecraft, which officially released on PC in November and will release on Xbox Live Arcade with Kinect support this spring.
The IGF awards will be presented during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco on March 7, 2012.
