The Nintendo 3DS will automatically connect to the internet when in range of Boingo hotspots at several major UK airports.
Airports to adopt the scheme include London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as Southampton and Aberdeen.
Once connected to the web, 3DS users will be able to access the handheld's SpotPass features, surf the internet and download titles from the eShop.
The Nintendo 3DS was released in March last year. Despite a slow start, the portable gaming device appears to have turned a corner, enjoying a strong finish to 2011 in the US.
The handheld will soon play host to games such as Kid Icarus: Uprising and next week's Resident Evil: Revelations release.
