The game will arrive first in Europe on March 17, followed by North America on March 20.
The Nintendo 3DS version will include all of the content from last year's console releases on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii.
It will also have StreetPass support, allowing players to share progress, collectibles, level times, unlocked achievements and avatars.
A PlayStation Vita port is also being worked on, which will arrive on February 22 in time for the system's launch in the UK and the US.
The PS3 version of Rayman Origins was placed seventh in Digital Spy's top games of 2011. It sits ninth in this week's PS3 chart.
It was announced in November that Rayman 3 HD will be released for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network this spring.
