According to Eurogamer, Nintendo has promised that the follow-up to the Wii will be released in North America, the UK, Japan and Australia by the end of the year.
Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata also told investors that he expects the company to deliver profits throughout the coming year, after suffering heavy losses in the financial year ending March 31, 2012.
Announced at last year's E3, the Wii U will be re-revealed at this year's event, with specifications, pricing and release dates expected to be announced.
The console is rumoured to be twice as powerful as the Xbox 360 and feature a full-blown app store.
