In an interview with VG247, Insomniac Games CEO Ted Price made the company's position clear.
"We won't be making any more Resistances," Price said.
However, the series will continue through other developers. The upcoming PlayStation Vita entry Resistance: Burning Skies is being developed by Nihilistic Software.
Insomniac Games is currently working on four-player co-op game Overstrike with publisher Electronic Arts. Announced at last year's E3, the game will be the first title that the studio has developed for platforms other than the PlayStation 3.
The studio also has filed trademarks for the terms 'Space Beasts' and 'Galaxy Beasts', though no announcement has been made for how the trademarks will be used.
Resistance 3 released last year on PlayStation 3, and will be the last game in the series developed by Insomniac Games.
