The legal suit from Spry Fox claims that in terms of gameplay, Yeti Town is identical to its game Triple Town. The similarities extend to the pricing of in-app purchases and copying of menu and tutorial text.
It also alleges that Spry Fox was at one point in negotiations with 6Waves to publish the game for iOS platforms while the developer worked on the Facebook version.
According to the legal suit, 6Waves was given months of private development information under a non-disclosure agreement to produce an iOS version of Triple Town. 6Waves broke from the negotiations the same day it released Yeti Town on iOS.
Though blatant copying is fairly common among iOS games, actual legal action is rare. However, the circumstances surrounding Triple Town and Yeti Town could give credence to the case as it approaches federal court.
Yeti Town released on iOS December 20, 2011. Triple Town released January 19.
