The maintenance period will begin at 2pm GMT (6am PST) and is due to finish tomorrow (February 3) at 8am GMT (0:01am PST).
PlayStation Home will be completely unavailable, while the PS Store, customer account management and user registration will also be affected.
Users wishing to play online during the period must sign into PlayStation Network before maintenance begins.
The PlayStation Network has undergone a series of short maintenance periods since last year's hack which saw personal information and credit card information taken.
They are related to heightened security measures implemented by former Homeland Security chief Philip Reitinger.
