THQ is reportedly gearing up to announce 170 layoffs across its business, including vice president of technology Mark DeLoura.

Industry figure Kevin Dent revealed the news on Twitter, saying: "This is probably going to break in the morning, I have sat on it for a week or so. The culling at THQ was 170+ souls including @markdeloura."

DeLoura jokingly appeared to confirm the news, tweeting about how he plans to miss this year's Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain (DICE) Summit in Las Vegas: "I'm skipping DICE this year... a beach and a margarita are calling my name :)"

Earlier this month, the company denied reports that it was planning to cancel its 2014 releases, saying that it was "thrilled" with how Saints Row: The Third performed in North America, as well as WWE '12's global sales.

However, the firm was recently threatened with a Nasdaq stock exchange delisting if it failed to raise its share prices above a dollar by July 23.

This time last year, THQ revealed a new company logo which represented its direction in creating high-quality, innovative and original games.
