Clearing up confusion surrounding the upcoming Sony re-release, Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto said that the game is being developed like a "remaster", according to Nova Crystallis (via FF Reunion).
"It's being developed like a remaster, but the visuals will be much more improved compared to the original game," he revealed.
The comments contradict a previous statement made by producer Yoshinori Kitase, which suggested that the game was a full-blown remake.
Announced at last year's Tokyo Game Show, the Final Fantasy X re-release will be available on Sony platforms with upgraded HD visuals.
The 2002 PlayStation 2 original tells the story of Blitzball star Tidus, who joins a pilgrimage to defeat a whale-like creature from destroying the planet.
The latest game in the series, Final Fantasy XIII-2, was released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and PC last week.
