The sequel to last year's Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure introduces 20 new collectable figures, including eight giant toys, which are more than twice the size of regular models.
Eight regular-sized Skylanders will also be released with the game, as well as a number of new figures that contain special in-game bonuses and light up when near a Portal of Power.
All models from the previous instalment will be supported, and the game will also be compatible with Skylanders: Spyro's Universe, the massively-multiplayer online spinoff.
Skylanders Giants will be officially unveiled at next week's American International Toy Fair in New York and will be available to buy later this year. Platforms are yet to be confirmed.
Launching last October, predecessor Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure makes use of a portal peripheral, which recreates a toy in-game when it is placed on top of the device.
Available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, 3DS and PC, the action adventure title supports character progression across all platforms.
