'Resistance: Burning Skies' dated for May on PlayStation Vita

Resistance: Burning Skies will release for PlayStation Vita in May.

In a livechat today (February 13) on the PlayStation Blog, Sony's John Koller revealed that the game will launch on May 29 in North America and on May 30 in Europe.

Resistance: Burning Skies was announced by Sony at Gamescom 2011. The first-person shooter will take place prior to the events of Resistance 2 starring new protagonist Tom Riley, a New Jersey firefighter caught in the Chimeran invasion.

The game is being developed by Nihilistic Software. Resistance creators Insomniac Games have revealed that they won't develop future games in the series.

PlayStation Vita launches across North America and Europe on February 22.
