'Far Cry 3' gets September release date

Far Cry 3 is to be released in September, according to a leaked trailer.

The video reveals that it will be released on September 6 in Germany, All Games Beta reports.

It is likely that the UK release date will be the following day (September 7), while a US release will fall on September 3 or 10.

Revealed at last year's Ubisoft E3 press conference, the sequel will return to the tropical setting made famous by the first Far Cry.

"[Far Cry 3] brings something new and unexpected, while still building upon the foundations of excellence that are inherent to the Far Cry brand," said producer Dan Hay at the time.

"Whether you're already a fan of the Far Cry series or jumping into the franchise for the very first time, you're going to be blown away by the gritty story and epic adventure we're going to deliver."

Far Cry 2, which was released in 2008, saw the open-world series move to Africa.

Far Cry 3 will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
