'Wasteland' sequel to receive Kickstarter funding

Wasteland creator Brian Fargo plans to use Kickstarter to fund a sequel.
The follow-up to 1988 role-playing game Wasteland would stay faithful to the series' roots and would cost at least $1 million to make, Fargo told IGN.

Buoyed by Tim Schafer's success with his Kickstarter-funded Double Fine Adventure, Fargo took to Twitter to express his interest in using similar crowd-funding methods.
"Pondering bringing Wasteland back through this crowdfunding. It's a world I have longed to work with again," wrote Fargo.
"People forget that Wasteland was the precursor to @fallout. We made Fallout because we didn't have the Wasteland rights.
"I want fans to know that a new Wasteland would be complete old school vibe and made with input from gamers. Made the gamers way. (sic)"
Fargo's inXile studio has already begun working on the top-down, isometric, party-based RPG, and hopes to bring it to the PC and iOS platforms.
Wasteland 2's Kickstarter campaign is likely to go live next month.
Double Fine Adventure is currently being funded through Kickstarter, where users have already donated nearly $2 million, breaking Kickstarter records and far exceeding the project's $400,000 (£252,942) goal.
