'Syndicate' studio announces staff cuts

Syndicate developer Starbreeze Studios has announced a wave of redundancies following the completion of the game.
The company has cut 25 jobs and confirmed that board member Peter Tornquist will resign from his post, reports GI.biz.

Tornquist has headed up the Starbreeze board since November 2007, after moving up from his position as vice chairman. He also completed a stint as chairman between 2002 and 2007.
"It is sad that we are forced to make staff cutbacks affecting employees," said company CEO Mikael Nermark, "but we have to reduce staff after the final delivery of Syndicate."
The game's executive producer Jeff Gamon previously told Digital Spy that it should be treated as a "brand new franchise" rather than a continuation of the original series, which debuted in 1993.
Syndicate will be released on February 21 in North America and February 24 in Europe on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
