'Borderlands 2' given release date, new trailer

By
Borderlands 2 has been given a release date through a new trailer.

2K Games has announced that the open-world shooter will be available from September 18 in North America and September 21 across Europe.

People who pre-order the game from selected retailers will gain access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club.

It includes a Gearbox Gun Pack featuring unique weaponry, a Golden Key to open a rare item in the Golden Sanctuary Loot Chest, and a Vault Hunter's Relic to boost gear-hunting pick-ups when exploring.

"Borderlands 2 is a passion project, through and through," said Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford.

"The result is a sequel that has improved every successful aspect of Borderlands while innovating with an all-new experience."

2K president Christoph Hartmann added: "The addictive gameplay and shooting and looting mayhem of the first Borderlands is back and better than ever in Borderlands 2, taking the franchise to an entirely new level.

"With more guns, more enemies, more missions, an engaging story and all-new characters, Borderlands 2 promises to bring a new era to gaming this fall."

Last year, Gearbox told Digital Spy that Borderlands 2 is a "very, very ambitious sequel".

Borderlands 2 will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
